Exploring Beyond Convention

The best known tool for hydrocarbon monitoring has been developed extensively by GeoDynamics research of Italy . Known as the Geospectra IPDS, this revolutionary technology has been employed and well tested in over 100 cases across the globe.

This environmentally friendly and cost-effective technology is currently seen as the most effective monitoring tool to allow enhanced oil field management.

In partnership with GeoDynamics, we can bring to you this latest of techniques which is able to reduce costs and risks dramatically – both in exploration and in production. Geospectra IPDS also brings a new set of information which was not available or recognized until now.

Geospectra IPDS ® : The Essential Information

This innovative and ground breaking technology provides several important services, Geospectra IPDS:

  • can be applied as pre-seismic or post-seismic survey; as stand-alone or complementary hydrocarbon exploration and monitoring tool
  • is clean and environment friendly
  • can be applied under different geological and environmental conditions , irrespective of type of rock or lithology
  • employs custom designed surface arrays of ultra high sensitive seismometers for data acquisition
  • results in direct detection of hydrocarbons in the pool area and in net pay zone thickness estimation in the subsurface
  • can be applied as a pre-cursor to allocate the most promising area of interest before running any costly 2-D or 3-D seismic survey.
  • is used in conjunction with conventional exploration technologies (2-D, 3-D seismic, gravity and magnetic surveys, surface geology, surface geochemistry, remote sensing etc.)
  • makes a considerable contribution to reduce the risk (avoid dry wells), to decrease cost per barrel and to increase net present value (NPV), whatever the exploration setting is: frontier or mature venture
  • can determine cutoff in hydrocarbon zone, sealed faults, sedimentary barriers.

Revolutionizing Oil production

Oil Field analysis

The novel technology employed in the GeoSpectra IPDS® enables in-depth study of any given reservoir or oil field. In addition to being accurate, fast, clean and cost effective this new technique:

  • identifies water front and water fingering
  • determines cutoff in hydrocarbon zones, sealed faults, sedimentary barriers and pinch out
  • delineates hydrocarbon pool extension and appraisal
  • determines the horizontal limits of oil/water contact (OWC) and gas/water contact (GWC)
  • estimates the current net thickness of hydrocarbon fluids

Well analysis

Geospectra IPDS also allows investigation of the current well status. It helps to:

  • compare well hydrocarbon monitoring with original hydrocarbon saturation log
  • delineate the surrounding area of the well, regarding existing oil extension, fault or sedimentary barriers
  • determine hydrocarbon or water coning surrounding the well
  • determine hydrocarbon and water level inside and surrounding the well
  • determine the direction of sidetrack and horizontal well
  • investigate the appraisal, dry and abandoned well status

Geospectra IPDS can thus reduce costs and risks dramatically while making well/reservoir investigations much simpler with a possible increase in accuracy.
